Silverton is approximately 20kms North East of Broken Hill.  Silverton offers a spectacular setting for many acclaimed artists and historic buildings.  The surrounding semi-arid desert offers a superb backdrop for TV & film crews the most internationally recognised film success were the Mad Max series, shot on the Mundi Mundi Plains and surrounds.

Established by miners in an attempt to find their fortune, the 3000 strong population started to leave in the late 1880's accompanied with their houses drawn by camel & bullock carts.  The town is still rich with character and every visitor is encouraged to undertake the local "PUB TEST". Silverton now has less than 50 residents, but is a popular tourist destination.
